Candle Care

Treat your candle how you wish to be treated

Here are some tips on how to get the best experience whilst in a burn session

Trim

Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to 1/4 inch to ensure a clean burn. Failing to do so could cause the candle to 'tunnel,' which will affect future burn sessions.

If the wick isn’t trimmed properly, the flame may produce smoke (also known as 'soot') due to the flame becoming too large.

If this happens, extinguish the flame immediately, allow the wax to re-harden, trim the wick further, and then re-light when you're ready.

Burn

A candle has something called a 'memory,' which means how you burn it during the first session is very important. The candle will 'learn' from this and behave similarly during the next burn.

When you first light your candle, allow it time to form a full 'melt pool,' which occurs when the melted wax reaches the edges of the vessel.

Never leave a burning candle unattended, and do not burn it for longer than 4 hours at a time.

Upcycle

With over 2.12 billion tonnes of waste created yearly, considered reuse is both responsible and necessary. When approximately 1/4 inch of wax remains, it's time to say goodbye.

To remove the remaining wax, pour hot (not boiling) water into the vessel. Allow the wax to melt, rise, and cool into a solid disc. Once fully set, gently remove the wax and wash the vessel thoroughly.

You are left with a refined ceramic piece, perfect for repurposing as a timeless and functional object within your home.
